We pride ourselves on our staff. What sets us apart from other summer schools is the quality of our teachers and activity leaders. We hire people who work in Britain's top boarding schools year round. Each campus is run by a Manager whose term time job is school housemaster. The Course Directors are also residential on site overseeing the programme.

Site Managers

Our school sites are run by highly experienced teachers. They are on hand to marshal the day's programme and get to know each individual student so they can guide their journey during their time with us.

We employ only the very best teachers to lead our academic programmes. They consistently receive excellent feedback from both our students and our inspection reports.

Teachers

The academic programme is taught by experienced senior English teachers working at top UK boarding schools. They recreate a typical classroom environment, but with smaller class sizes and dynamic projects involving lots of interaction and discussion.

The English Language programme is led by fully trained language tutors. They structure the lessons carefully so that every student sees the maximum improvement in their English level.

Public speaking

Drama and public speaking is an important element of the course for all students. A highly respected actor, teacher and LAMDA drama examiner, leads our speaking programmes. He captures students’ imaginations with his lively lessons and we are always hearing from students about the new confidence he has given them.

Activities staff

Our afternoon activities are led by experts in their fields. Fully qualified sports teachers and housemasters heads up our outdoor sports and activities. We have a talented artist leading the creative workshops. Other experts come in to run specialist workshops and our forest school programme.

On our daytrips we use the best local guides to give inside knowledge to our students. The Summer Academy works with the guides to put together unique programmes, full of surprises, that won’t be found anywhere else.

Mentors

An important part of our team is our activity leaders. We choose lively students who were themselves educated at renowned UK boarding schools. They act in a big brother/sister role, marshalling activities and mentoring the students alongside an experienced leadership staff.

PASTORAL STAFF

OUR HOUSEMISTRESSES

In the boarding houses and dormitories, students are looking after by our housemistresses. They will store and administer medication and look after valuable belongings. They also get children up in the mornings, and put to bed in the evenings. There is always a housemistress on site for parents to speak to.

Susan and Bella

Housemistresses

Susan and Bella

Susan and Bella are our housemistresses at Sunningdale. They both work as matrons so know the school routine very well. Susan is the Head Matron at Sunningdale. She has worked in boarding schools for 17 years with students aged 7-18 years. Prior to this she worked in camps in the USA. Bella has spent the past 15 years working with children in different school settings around the south of England. Together they make a strong team to ensure every child's welfare.

"Sunningdale is a lovely school set in beautiful grounds and with a great family atmosphere. This reflects into The Summer Academy and I hope your child will feel at home here." Susan

Thank you for supporting us and taking care of us so well, and for making us laugh!
